New work /Exhibition in Rennes

22 February 2010

Girl with cradle and toys. Acrylic on canvas. 73 x 60 cm. 2010

I finished this painting last week. The model is Natalie Dybisz aka Miss Aniela, who I met in August 2009 to do a self-portrait collaboration. I started the painting right after I met with her, but stopped working on it for several months until the first week of February 2010. I’m very excited to share this with you, my first piece made (or finished) in 2010, that will be showcased soon in Singulière Plurielles, my second exhibition in Rennes, France!!

View of the flyer. I’ll be exhibiting with French artist Elsa Alayse at Gallery L’Antre Temps.

I’ll show the rest of my new work soon. In the mean time here’s a preview of my most recent series of drawings, which will also be exhibited at L’Antre Temps:

Pencil on paper. 28 x 24 cm. 2010

Stay tuned for more!

Journal update

31 January 2010

It’s been quite a while since I haven’t scanned drawings from my journal…

I made most of the following before getting into the “Holy Beauty” series. I did some interesting discoveries while working on them. For instance, I think I might get into collage very soon…

(Click on the images to enlarge!)

Note: I’ve been asked if I sell or exhibit my Journal drawings. The answer is yes, you can buy drawings from my journals :)

Before leaving…

25 November 2009

DSC07613

About a month ago I did a fashion photoshoot in a professional studio. It was really an amazing experience…huge thanks to photographer Raphaël Auvray for the opportunity! Also to Les troubadours du Chaos, for the beautiful clothes; to Chloé Collewet and Camille Bodin for being such great models, and to Nicolás Díaz Durana and Aude Mazza for the great help!!

I was hoping to finish these pictures before traveling to Colombia but it was really impossible. I was cought up preparing my presentation for University Jean Moulin Lyon III and I even haven’t had the time to finish my Watermelon series, which I had already announced and hope to finish soon! At the moment I’m packing my bags, and I want to share the images I’ve already finished, before I disappear for several days. Click on the first image to view the slideshow.

Models: Chloé Collewet and Camille Bodin. Clothes: Les troubadours du chaos (link). Studio, lighting and general assistance: Raphaël Auvray. Concept, Makeup, Styling, Photography and Post-Processing: me. Thank you all!!

I plan to write a full report of this photoshoot whenever I get the time. In the meantime, if you’re curious, you can see a complete ‘behind the scenes’ coverage on my Facebook: CLICK. Thanks to Aude and Nicolás for those pics :)

I still have to finish editing the watermelon pics I mentioned in the last post, taken the same weekend of Bella’s shooting. Aaaand…last Friday I had an awesome photoshoot in a profesional studio, with a Phase One camera, two beautiful models and amazing clothes from a local store. I have several hours of post-processing ahead!

Shooting Belladonna (Part 1: Domestic scenes)

27 October 2009

Some of you may have seen a preview of this shooting through my Facebook page. The same weekend I went to deliver Kirsty’s painting in Paris, I also had two scheduled photo shoots: 1) With Clara Garrido, a close friend from Colombia -who’s served as a model in a couple of my paintings and photographs- including the most expensive watermelon I’ve ever bought (20 euros!!)…you’ll get to see those soon, hopefully! 2) With Belladonna Friis, fashion model working in Paris.

Here’s the first part of my work with Belladonna:

These 6 photos are certainly not the most glamorous because, although fashion was intended to be the main thing, I was trying to keep everything within my personal artistic universe. Bella was great to work with, very creative and enthusiastic, aside from being a beautiful and great model. These are definitely some of my favorites from the shooting. The last B&W picture showcases two of her paintings in the background.

After the ‘domestic’ scenes we passed on to a more ‘fashionistic’ atmosphere. At the end of the session Bella ended up taking a bath with her clothes on! Stay tuned for the rest!

Holy beauty

3 October 2009

Finally! I have the time to sit down and write an update. The last couple of weeks have been crazy, traveling, organizing the exhibition as well as creating some new works** I’m really looking forward to share here. But first things first: the exhibition in Rennes! To be honest I was very nervous because this was my first solo exhibition in France. I thought no one would show up, but to my surprise the place was full! At some point it was even hard to move around. It was really exciting to see my works filling up an entire place again and people looking at them, which is twice more satisfying than selling them individually.

The morning of the opening day, the team from ArtplaTV came to film while we were getting things ready, and later did a short interview. I’ll post the video here as soon as it’s ready, although it might take a while because everything was done in French and I suspect it’d be useful to add subtitles at least in English.

The exhibition presented 16 unedited drawings, along with 8 paintings. You can click here to see more pics of the event and have a look at the works. Bellow I’m posting 12 of the 16 drawings (soon I’ll upload the other 4). They are a sort of continuation of La Peregrina, a rather ambitious project inspired mainly by Colonial Latin American Arts (I’ve already ranted about this matter. If you’re interested please go here). I had several ideas in mind for new images similar to La Peregrina, and at some point I felt urged to start doing something about that. That’s how the idea of making drawings came to me. Click on the thumbnails to enlarge:

These 32 x 24 cm drawings are unique artworks, sold at a very approachable price. If you’re interested, do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes and to those in Rennes who attended and made publicity. HUGE thanks to Nicolás, who helped me with absolutely everything -and more, also to Charlie and Mathilde, Le Cheval Bleu and ArtplaTV.

**My portfolio at my agent’s has been updated. You can have a look and discover some new photos I haven’t posted here yet: www.juliesagency.com/rossina.bossio
