From now on I’m personally taking charge of proofing, printing and shipping the reproductions of my paintings, because I’ve had enough with Internet censoring my work (last month I had another episode: a couple of my images, among which Hoop Skirt, were deleted -not filtered, but deleted- on Redbubble*). Same as with my photographs**, my painting prints will be sold in limited editions, signed and numbered. There will also be unlimited posters and postcards at lower prices.

But before I start selling anything, I’d like to celebrate this new feature by giving away a print of Hoop Skirt!! Send the e-mail now! The winner will be announced on June 15th.

Jonna designed the clothes, inspired by the the figure of Carolyn Cassady, and afterwards we met to create a series of photographs where I was the model. The final result is a book, titled Comme des Filles, that is currently being exhibited at Stockholm, Sweden Gallery Grafiska Sällskapet. As I promised on my Facebook, today I’m sharing with you more pictures from the series! I said I was going to show you the entire series but we’re now looking to possibly edit several copies of the book, and if I show you all the pics now I’d spoil the possibility of actually selling the book ;) hope you’ll forgive me! In the meantime, have a look at these:

I loved taking these pictures. The model is Clara, a friend from hometown who has already posed for several paintings of mine (e.g. Photo Frame and Armchair). She lived in London for a year until December 2009. Being that we were both living in Europe at the time, we agreed we should take the opportunity and meet in Paris for a photoshoot. We met on a September Saturday morning, only for a few hours. We didn’t plan much, I even thought we weren’t going to find a place to take the pictures. I deeply thank Kirsty Mitchell, who I met the same weekend, for helping me with that, and her partner Matthew Stevenson for carrying the heaviest and most expensive watermelon I’ve ever bought. Oh yes, the watermelon is the only prop I planned in advance. I couldn’t help but visualize Clara’s ‘Lydia-from-Beetlejuice’ features with a juicy watermelon. It turned out it was her favorite fruit so she was extremely happy to eat the entire thing  -swear I didn’t know!

After the opening, Pascale Heloïse Nivet, artistic director of La Marelle Editions, kindly wrote an article about my work and posted it at La Marelle’s blog. You can read it here (in French). Thanks Pascale! I have some more exciting press to show you but it’ll have to wait until I figure out how to upload it…

I finished this painting last week. The model is Natalie Dybisz aka Miss Aniela, who I met in August 2009 to do a self-portrait collaboration. I started the painting right after I met with her, but stopped working on it for several months until the first week of February 2010. I’m very excited to share this with you, my first piece made (or finished) in 2010, that will be showcased soon in Singulière Plurielles, my second exhibition in Rennes, France!!
